Your College Safety Resource

Having a plan and knowing where to turn when the worst happens is what we’re all about at Safety Scope. Our app exists to protect you, but safety goes beyond getting help. We are using this blog post to be a college safety resource. You never know what can happen, and these reliable sources provide campus safety and survivor support.

Center For Changing Our Campus Culture

Changingourcampus.org is “an online college safety resource to address sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. The Center is supported by the Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women in collaboration with its designated Campus Program Technical Assistance Provider Team.” The “Changing Our Campus” website has seemingly no limit to resources and information. The “Get Help” button at the top of their website offers resources and phone numbers for victims or struggling people. Their News and Updates page is frequently updated to keep students in the know.

RAINN

https://www.rainn.org/safety-students is a web page dedicated to students on college campuses. RAINN is a beneficial college safety resource for topics such as, but not limited to, alcohol safety, sexual assault information, and bystander intervention. According to Rainn, “sexual violence can happen to anyone, and it’s not the only crime that can occur on a college campus. College students have the opportunity to look out for their friends, speak up about sexual violence, and take steps to increase personal safety.” Be sure to check out this college safety resource.

Your University’s Website As A College Safety Resource

Often colleges have a tab on their website called “Campus Life” with an additional button called “Campus Safety”. Here, you can find on-campus resources for health services, including mental health services. You will also find crisis counseling and support for survivors of sexual assault. Drug and alcohol programs/support are usually available as well. A great example of campus safety resources is found on the Northwestern University website. They list the university police, safe ride, urgent medical services, and the location of their incident report services. Utilize your university’s website as a college safety resource.
